WHSmith originally entered motorway service areas in an effort to restore faith in travellers looking to use these services. The decision was declared an overwhelming success, resulting in WHSmith stores popping up at nearly every service station in the country by 2009.
To carry out complete store works within forecourts and retail formats, including the removal and disposal of existing mid floor and perimeter equipment. To introduce a range of new equipment from both Bartuf’s manufacture division as well as third parties. The locations require new store layouts and re-gridding, as well as installation of new facilities and acquisitions within the portfolio. To act as enabling contractor i.e. removal and storage of kit to allow ceiling or flooring works to be carried out ahead of store refurbishments.
Due to the more complex nature of working on multiple Motorway Service Areas, it was necessary to carry out CAD work to generate store plans and to form a scope of work that all parties could easily align themselves to. We were able to coordinate, manage, store and deliver both our own equipment and third party supply items in phases, minimising the risk to client and reducing costs.
Our reactionary team which operates alongside the mainline team, ensured that emergency call out was available 24/7 at short notice.
We have become the client’s number one supplier and “go to” option for solution provision. The £500,000 contract took place over periods ranging from one to five nights. From small quick turnaround projects to the large and more complex undertakings, Bartuf are proud to have aided continual growth of the WHSmith business, securing involvement within the development plans of retail stores within the estate.
