Starting life as a family newsagent in 1792, WHSmith has grown to over 600 high street stores in addition to the same number of stores located in airports, train stations, motorway service areas and even hospitals.
Now operating internationally at locations in Australia, South East Asia, India and the Middle East, WHSmith is one of the UK’s leading retail groups and a household name.
WHSmith required the installation of new-look stationery equipment to the mid floor and perimeter for a number of their stores. Aside from the safe and proper removal of existing equipment, part of the brief was to work hand in hand with store staff so that areas were fully functional and merchandised by the end of shift. Needless to say, an overall improvement to the look and feel of the areas also had to be achieved.
As we were working with such a high volume of stores, it was important that lines of communication were crystal clear at all times. This involved liaising frequently with WHSmith Head Office to ensure clarity of scope, and communicating with individual stores to identify any site specific issues that could have arisen.
Comprehensive on-site reporting helped to capture and resolve any issues, facilitating a smooth and successful installation process.
All of the hard work eventually paid off, resulting in a project that was completed on time and within agreed costs. The £75,000 contract took place over the course of 3 weeks, completing installations across a total of 33 WHSmith stores.
Both senior head office and in-store personnel were satisfied, offering valuable positive feedback upon completion. To top off a successful project, the client offered Bartuf further roll-out based on the strength of the work carried out.
